TaylorMade Gear

Optimizing your equipment for your game is crucial. We’ve talked about in the past on the blog about getting fit and using TaylorMade’s custom shop to your advantage. But, with the new Qi35 fairway woods, there’s another level of optimization you can take advantage of.

For the first time ever, all Qi35 3- and 5-woods (as well as the Qi35 Tour 7-wood) employ a 4° loft sleeve that allows you to dial in your distance, ball flight and shot shape. Qi35 Tour fairway woods also come with a 40g asymmetrical sliding weight that can be moved forward and back. Click here to read more about each of the fairway woods in the Qi35 family.

With all that in mind, buckle up; we’re going to take an in-depth look at the three ways you can best optimise your Qi35 fairway woods.

1. GET FIT

The best players in the world constantly are getting fit into the right equipment, just like Scottie Scheffler is here on the PGA TOUR with our Tour Rep Adrian Rietveld. Much like drivers, there are seemingly endless head and shaft combinations and trying to figure it all out on your own isn’t exactly easy. By scheduling a fitting with a TaylorMade Experiential Fitter, you’ll take all the guesswork out of finding the perfect Qi35 fairway woods for your game.

In as little as 25 minutes, your fitter will use our proprietary MyFittingExperience (MFE) software to track all your shots. Based on the data collected, they’ll be able to recommend a narrowed down range of potential head and shaft combinations for your specific swing. Then it just becomes a matter of finding the exact set that not only gives you the right numbers, but inspires confidence when you’re standing over the ball. Say goodbye to the days of blindly pounding balls, and hello to fittings that are both highly accurate and efficient.

2. LET LOFT BE YOUR FRIEND

While a lot of fairway woods are bonded (you’re stuck with one loft), all Qi35 and Qi35 Max 3- and 5-woods (and the Qi35 Tour 7-wood) come with a 4° loft sleeve.

The obvious bit about the 4° loft sleeve is that you can dial in loft to your specific preferences, but there’s more to the equation. When you adjust loft, you’re also reorienting face angle. Adjusting face angle can make a significant difference in how the club is orientated to your eye at address. Depending on what you like to see and your intended start line, you may benefit from a slightly open or closed face.

Adjusting loft also changes lie angle. Optimising lie angle to your individual swing can help improve turf interaction while also helping you control your preferred shot shape.

3. ADJUST THE WEIGHT IN Qi35 TOUR FAIRWAY WOODS

If you’re a player looking for maximum workability and customisation, you stand to benefit from Qi35 Tour fairway woods. Not only can you adjust loft by up to 4°, but also a 40g asymmetrical sliding weight gives you an additional layer of adjustability.

If you’re looking for lower flight with less spin, slide the weight forward and toward the face. For increased height with more forgiveness, slide the weight back.

With Qi35 Tour fairway woods, there’s unprecedented opportunity for optimisation.
