The RBC Heritage has turned out to become one of the best weeks of the year for equipment changes. Practice rounds begin one day after The Masters and the Hilton Head vibes are nice and relaxed which makes it a perfect time to test new equipment.
What I'm saying is, this is a perfect week to be a gear head! Let's dive in.

We started the week off with a bang by launching the R7 Quad Mini Driver. There are few pieces of equipment that will stop any Tour player in their tracks and R7 Quad Mini did just that. Just about any player on the range that saw the iconic throw back head cover had to stop what they were doing and take a peek under the hood.
Thankfully our Tour Reps came prepared with a built-to-spec R7 Quad Mini for each of our Team TaylorMade athletes. I carried the mini driver's out to the 18th tee to allow for some on course testing and couldn't even make it to the tee box before Tommy, Scottie and Collin asked to take a look at what I was carrying. Each of them stepped up to the closing tee box of Harbour Town and unloaded drives with R7 Quad Mini. It was so good for Tommy, he did extensive testing on the range on Wednesday and will put it through its paces at home during his two off weeks before the Truist Championship. Check out Tommy, Scottie and Collin's numbers with R7 Quad Mini below!

For PGA TOUR winner Karl Vilips, R7 Quad Mini went straight in the bag in a very unique way. Harbour Town is known to be a mini-driver/3-wood golf course with tight fairways lined by trees that make accuracy off the tee a premium. Karl is going to rely on the consistency and playability of the R7 Quad Mini both ways this week. The top of his bag will be mini driver, 3-wood, 7-wood! Karl's stock carry with mini driver is around 285-yards with spin rates hovering 3000 RPM.

Collin arrived at RBC Heritage looking to test mallet putters. Our team built a few different mallet shapes for Collin including Spider Tour, Spider Tour X and Spider Tour V. With Collin traditionally being a blade player, he gravitated towards the forward CG profile of Spider Tour V. It is a familiar blade-like feel for him with the sole and clean alignment aid giving him a consistent set up and confidence over the ball. Check out the spec below!

Tommy also went through extensive putter testing starting with a two-hour putting session on the practice green on Monday. He tested both a prototype zero-torque Spider and Spider Tour Black to try and correct for his slightly left aim and closed face at impact. A flatter Spider Tour allowed Tommy to get his hands lower and create natural face opening and arc back into his stroke.
Tommy loved the micro-milled alignment aid on the zero-torque putter, so Tommy and our putter rep James Holley recreated the milled line sight line on his Spider Tour with a ruler and a sharpie.
Tommy said that the thick lines allow him to put the putter down, not have to rely on a line on the ball and just hit the putt. There are five silver sharpie lines on the left and right with a brown line in the middle serving as the traditional short line alignment aid. He told us that the width of all of these lines together makes it easy to visualize a center face strike. Combining that visual aid with the natural stability of Spider, Tommy fired a first round 67 gaining 0.711 strokes on the greens!
