When any new club to makes it into the bag of a Tour professional, no guesswork is allowed. Everything is measured and tested.
That was the case for Brendan Lawlor as he came into TaylorMade Europe’s HQ in Basingstoke ahead of his G4D season opener at Magical Kenya Open to test all things Qi10.

Loft and lies can move when practicing indoors, and while Brendan has been preparing for his 2024 season at home it was at the forefront of Alex Marine’s (TaylorMade Tour Technician) mind when they walked into our fitting room at HQ.
“This is the first time I’ve seen Brendan this year and as he’s been practicing indoors his yardages were a bit out, especially in his 7 & 9 iron, so took them back into the workshop and just had to slightly bend their loft to suit his gapping needs.”- Alex Marine

Brendan is a low spin player and one thing to note is that his 4-iron was similar in distance to his 5-iron as he couldn’t get the spin and peak height up. To combat this, Alex built a Qi10 4 Hybrid and it’s gone straight in the bag. Seeing higher ball flight and correct carry numbers, it was a no brainer for Brendan.

Testing all models, Qi10 LS performed very well however Brendan commented that he couldn’t get used to the slightly different shape from the top. Preferring the look of Qi10 Driver, Alex dialled it in.
Brendan’s Qi10 Driver Specs
Actual Loft: 10.5
Loft Sleeve: Standard * Set on Higher
Shaft: PX Hzrdus Red 6.0 50g
Length: 45” cut
Swing Weight: D1
Grip: Tour Wrap 1 Layer
“Deciding on the Qi10 head we set it on higher to get Brendan launching the ball for his preferred carry numbers. He was really pleased with the final setup and he was getting around 1.5mph- 2mph extra ball speed and about 8-yards more carry.”- Alex Marine
