The second major of the year is here! We went straight to our friend Rick Gehman (@RickRunGood) to get all the stats you must know about Rory, Scottie and Team TaylorMade at Aronimink.

From Rory McIlroy's historic tee-to-green form to a stat sheet that echoes Tiger Woods at his peak — here's why the numbers say Team TaylorMade is primed to contend in Philadelphia.

TEAM TAYLORMADE BEST IN CLASS

Team TaylorMade is top 5 in the following categories this season:

  • Scottie Scheffler: 1st in SG: total (+2.056), 1st in scoring average (68.28), 1st in birdie average (5.03) and 1st in bogey avoidance (9.88%).
  • Rory McIlroy: 1st in SG: off-the-tee (+0.854), 3rd in driving distance (323.3)
  • Jacob Bridgeman: 1st in SG: putting (+0.939), 3rd in putting average (1.677)
  • Collin Morikawa: 2nd in SG: approach (+0.963)
  • Tommy Fleetwood: 4th in SG: around-the-green (+0.518)

If you add:

  • Rory SG: OTT (+0.854)
  • Collin SG: APP (+0.963)
  • Tommy SG: ARG (+0.518)
  • Jacob SG: Putting (0.939)

It equals +3.27 which is nearly identical to Tiger Woods 2006 season (+3.40) where he won nine times including the PGA Championship.

SCOTTIE'S PGA CHAMPIONSHIP SUCCESS

Scottie Hitting Fairway Wood At Aronimink

Scottie Scheffler is set to defend his title at this championship…and the stats make it very obvious as to why he could go back-to-back:

  • Scottie has finished inside the top-10 in 83.3% of his PGA Championship starts, the highest top-10 rate in PGA Championship history (min 2 starts)
  • World No. 1 has gained +2.92 strokes per round in his PGA Championship career, the highest rate in history (min 5 starts).
  • He has made the cut in 15 consecutive Major Championships which is the second longest active streak in the world
  • In 10% of his rounds Scottie gains five or more strokes to the field, tied for the third highest rate on TOUR.
  • Scottie currently leads the PGA TOUR in SG total, scoring average, birdie average and bogey avoidance

RORY'S DOMINANCE OFF-THE-TEE

Rory Qi4 D Aronimink

Rory McIlroy has statistically dominated this tournament off the tee and is coming off of a strong driving week at Quail Hollow:

  • Rory has gained +44.83 strokes off-the-tee in his PGA Championship career, the most of any player since tracking began (2014).
  • Since Rory’s last win at this championship, he has made 12 starts and in 46 rounds has gained 44.83 strokes off-the-tee which is 10.07 strokes more than the next best player. That margin is the same gap from 2nd to 8th on the list (!).
  • In 2026, Rory McIlroy has gained +2.18 strokes per round, which is his second-best lead-in form to the PGA Championship in the last decade.
  • From tee-to-green in 2026, Rory has gained +1.95 strokes which is the fourth best mark of his career. He won the PGA Championship in two of his three better season.
  • He is also third in driving distance this season at 323.3 yards for the season.
  • In total, Rory gains 5+ strokes to the field in 11.5% of his rounds, the second highest rate on TOUR.

COLLIN LOOKS FOR HIS SECOND WANAMAKER

Collin Chipping Aronimink

Collin Morikawa had his breakthrough win at this tournament in 2020 and has had a statistical advantage in the majority of his starts:

  • He has gained strokes to the field in 19/24 (79%) rounds in his PGA Championship career. That’s the 8th highest rate of any golfers since 2000. (min 24 rounds).
  • This season Collin has five top-10 finishes in 2026, which is the most prior to the PGA Championship in his career.
  • Since turning pro, Collin has gained at least one stroke on approach in 39% of his career rounds. That’s the second highest mark since then, behind Scottie (41%).

TOMMY'S TIME?

Tommy Raising Putter Aronimink

Coming off a T5 finish at The Truist, Tommy Fleetwood's all-around game is primed for Aronimink.

  • He is one of only 12 players on TOUR gaining strokes in SG: off-the-tee, SG: around-the-green, SG: approach and SG: putting.
  • Tommy has also gained at least one stroke to the field in 63.5% of his rounds, second best on TOUR behind only Scottie.

WITH A WIN...

  • Rory McIlroy would match Jack Nicklaus as the only player to win the Masters and PGA Championship in the same year.
  • A win would mark Rory’s seventh major and tie him for seventh most all-time with Harry Vardon, Bobby Jones, Gene Sarazen, Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer.
  • Scottie would win his fifth Major Championship in 27 starts, matching Harry Vardon and Peter Thomson as the 9th fewest starts to five major wins in golf history.
  • If either Scottie or Rory win, it would be the first time since 2007-2008 that two players won five out of six major championships.
